The first Places Moments cap with a logo on the front instead of a hand-painted patch is up for preorder right now. Why a logo cap now?
Every cap we've made until now started as a painting that became an embroidered patch, so the front of the cap has always belonged to the artwork. A cap that leads with our own logo instead is a real change for us, and it deserves an honest reason rather than a marketing one.
It looks cool and retro, and I wanted something clean. That's the whole reasoning. I could stretch it into some long design philosophy, but it really was those two words, and if you want to know where they ended up in the product: retro is the two-tone build and the curved brim, and clean is the front, which carries nothing but a small mark.
I did spend a whole post this summer telling you a cap with no logo at all was the move of 2026, and I stand behind every word of it. That argument was about paying to advertise somebody else's brand across your forehead. A small mark of our own name, in one quiet color, sits fine with me.
What all three colorways share
The build is identical across the three: a soft cotton crown in cream, full panels, and a curved brim in the contrast color. Then the detail I care about most, which is that the top button and the panel eyelets are picked out in the same color as the brim, so on the green cap the button up top and the eyelets are green too. It's the simplest two-tone cap we could draw, cream body, one color everywhere else.
The logo out front is the Places | Moments mark, the P and the M sitting on either side of the stacked name. PLACES | MOMENTS is printed small over your left ear, the Crown Gate logo sits at the back, and every colorway is one size, adjustable, fitting about a 59 cm (23 1/4 in) head.
The purple one wears differently
One real difference separates the three, and it's the kind of specific I'd want to know before choosing: the cream and green and the cream and light blue have a structured crown, while the cream and purple, also up for preorder, does not. Structured means the front of the crown holds its shape on its own. The purple has no structure in it, so the crown sits low and follows your head instead of standing off it.

If you want a crisp front with a little height, take the green or the light blue. The purple is for the low, broken-in look, and it wears that way from the first day.
How I'd pick between the three
The logo color also changes with each cap, and it matters more than it sounds. On the green it's black, and black on cream over a green brim is about as retro as a baseball cap gets. On the cream and light blue, another preorder, it's navy, which keeps the whole cap soft. On the purple it's purple, matched to the brim, the quietest front of the three.
So the decision comes down to two questions: do you want the crown structured or low, and how quiet do you want the front? Green gives you the most contrast, light blue keeps everything soft, and purple runs the whole cap through one color.
